According to the latest report issued by the China Iron and Steel Association on January 10, a total of 19.06 million tons of crude steel was produced in the country in late December 2010, with a daily production of 1.733 million tons. The cumulative daily production of the country was 1.699 million tons in the same month, compared to 161.7 in November. Ten thousand tons obviously recovered, an increase of 3.3%.

At present, relevant departments have not officially released China's crude steel production in 2010. However, in mid-December of last year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology predicts that China's crude steel production will reach 620 million tons last year.

Luo Bingsheng, executive vice president of the China Iron and Steel Association, believes that China is a well-deserved steel country. During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, we must speed up the structural adjustment of the entire industry so that China will soon transform from a big steel country to a strong steel country.

During the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period, China’s iron and steel industry eliminated the backward production capacity steadily. A total of 116.96 million tons of outdated iron production capacity and 69.14 million tons of steel production capacity were eliminated, completing 117% and 126% of the planned phase-out.
