Dell still adheres to the goal of sustainable plastic development
According to Dell's latest sustainability report, as of January 31, 2016, Dell's closed-loop program processed 3.4 million pounds of recyclable plastic from old electronic devices to make desktop computers and displays. American computer maker Dell said it is rapidly developing a closed-loop plastic recycling system.
In addition, Dell recycled 170,000 pounds of carbon fiber material for notebook production and 10.7 million pounds of plastic recycled from plastic water bottles, CD cases and other sources to produce desktops and displays.
David Lear, executive director of Dell's Sustainability Program, said that what we do is good for our customers, our environment and our living space. This week, Dell plans to make an update that outlines 21 sustainability goals by 2020.
From the pilot phase of the closed-loop recycling system in April 2014, Dell began limited production. At present, Dell has limited the plastics of 48 products of the closed-loop project, but expanded the precious metal materials such as gold. Dell used 14.1 million pounds of recycled plastic in its products over a 12-month period, an increase of 20.5% from 11.7 million pounds in the previous year.
