High-tech manufacturing technology ensures high efficiency
The automated production system of the NHX 5000 machining center with up to 12-position pallets and the high-performance NHX 5500 heavy-duty machining center is the opening of TM Elitex.
TM Elitex has been around for decades, and the famous Czech textile industry was still booming. Before 1990, the company had been producing textile machines for Eastern European countries. The change in the political situation in 1990 led to market changes. At this time, Josef Saska and Master of Engineering Milan Novotn ý two entrepreneurs have to face serious challenges. They must move from state-owned companies with hundreds of employees to profitable ones, produce new products, use new technologies, and must face completely different markets. They recognized DMG MORI when they realized that the processing equipment at the time could not meet the quality requirements of the Western market.
In the past 13 years, the two companies have successfully cooperated and installed 15 DMG MORI machines. At the same time, TM Elitex is recognized by international manufacturing companies. Now, 80% of the products they produce are exported to Germany, including parts and components of woodworking machinery, and another 20% are sold to domestic tool companies and auto companies such as Skoda. “DMG MORI always provides us with the right solutions to increase our competitiveness and meet the increasing production requirements for complex parts and high quality parts.†- Josef Saska said in a long-term cooperation with DMG MORI. “The first one was the milling machining center DMC 63V introduced in 2002. The machine still works two times a day in our factory without any problems.â€
Most of the products produced by TM Elitex are repetitive workpieces, which means that there are certain orders per month, and the actual batches are small and frequently changing. “Recently we have to face new challenges. Many different parts are constantly being rotated and take up a lot of time for machine tool re-adjustment. Moreover, as we continue to develop, we need higher production capacity. The DMG MORI solution to address these challenges is the NHX 5000 horizontal machining center with a pallet library system. High-speed machining centers and 12-bit automatic pallet change systems deliver unprecedented efficiency in flexible parts production. Josef Saska spoke highly of their new investment: “The new system has greatly increased our productivity. We are confident in accepting any orders with very short lead times. This machining center allows us to produce stable high quality parts and achieve high efficiency. All axes of the NHX 5000 are equipped with an absolute magnetic linear straight-line measuring system with full closed-loop control and a measurement resolution of up to 0.01 μm. The machine's high-precision positioning capability and high-rigidity bed allow TM Elitex to meet the most stringent tolerance requirements. Josef Saska added: "In addition to accuracy and speed, the biggest advantage of this system is that we can economically produce very small batches or even only two pieces of workpieces. Programs and fixtures are available, we only need to adjust the schedule of the task. Arrange, once the order is received, production can be started automatically. The machine settings do not take any time."
Since the company's employees only work two shifts, the new pallet automatic exchange system can also be produced at night. “When the second shift came off, our employees filled the pallet system with blanks, allowing the machine to work continuously at night, and new finished parts were produced in the morning. Another highlight of the project is that the daily utilization rate of the HX 5000 reaches 90% in just 4 months after production. Only the close cooperation between DMG MORI and TM Elitex can achieve this result. The application engineer responsible for the new machine tool received extensive training at the DMG MORI site, covering all aspects of the operation. Josef Saska said that the training service is extremely valuable: “Because this pallet system is the first in the Czech Republic, the automation experts introduced our employees to the full functionality of the system, ensuring that the machine and pallet exchange system are perfectly coordinated and fully mastered.â€
Refresh the new benchmark for heavy processing
For difficult-to-machine materials, difficult alloys and stainless steel, the NHX 5500 high-precision machining center stands out. For TM Elitex, these materials are not as common as conventional steel and aluminum. The NHX 5500 machining center with a 40 kW spindle has a torque of 600 Nm and cuts any material at a record high speed. For example, the machine's online tool setting system avoids costly spindle collisions caused by tool breakage. Another smart feature is the online display system.
