Some enterprises in the province with energy consumption exceeding the limit imposed punitive electricity prices and eliminated the differential electricity prices.

According to reports, there are seven companies that have implemented punitive tariffs. The punitive tariff is more than double the limit. At the same time, Jiangsu Province implemented elimination of differentiated electricity prices for some of the 149 enterprises in the province. The rate of increase was 0.30 yuan per kilowatt-hour.

Ding Jian, head of the Price Division of the Jiangsu Provincial Price Bureau, said that the purpose of implementing a punitive tariff in Jiangsu Province is to use price levers to promote energy conservation and emission reductions.
