With the development of high-tech, the service temperature of aerospace engines and other system equipment is getting higher and higher, and many moving parts are in a high-temperature environment above 800°C, which makes the problems of lubrication, wear resistance and high temperature protection increasingly prominent. Therefore, the development of lubricating coatings with excellent oxidation resistance and low wear rate at high temperatures has become a research hotspot in the field of surface engineering technology. Zhou Huiyin, a researcher at the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, used thermal spray technology to prepare a micro/nano-size hard particle-reinforced CoCrAlY-based composite coating with excellent mechanical properties and a strong bond to the substrate. The high temperature oxidation resistance of the coating is outstanding, and the TG test shows that the oxidation weight increase from room temperature to 1000°C is less than 1 mg/cm2. The unique formula design enables the coating to be driven by the "friction glaze" during the high temperature friction process. A dense lubricating film composed of oxides is formed on the friction surface. The friction coefficient at 1000°C is only about 0.25 and the wear rate is high. It is on the order of 10-6mm3/Nm, indicating that the coating is an excellent high temperature oxidation resistant wear resistant lubricating coating. The excellent tribological properties of this coating at 1000°C make it promising for applications in high-tech fields.
