US finds a new method for mass production of graphene

<

According to a report by the American Physicist Network on June 21, scientists at the University of Northern Illinois in the United States published a paper in the June issue of Materials Chemistry, which found that they can produce graphene on a large scale. The simple method: by burning pure magnesium in dry ice, it is possible to directly convert carbon dioxide into multilayer graphene (thickness less than 10 atoms).
According to Narayan Osman, a professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Northern Illinois who is responsible for the study, this synthesis has the potential to produce large amounts of multilayer graphene. Although there are many ways to prepare graphene, many of them need to use dangerous chemicals, and the technology is also cumbersome. In contrast, the new method is simple, environmentally friendly and inexpensive.
