The identification result indicates that the project was the first to extract and prepare graphite from biomass in the world. The technical path of the olefinic material is green and environmentally friendly, and the cost is low. The biomass graphene material has high quality and excellent electrical conductivity.

There are mainly three methods for producing conventional graphene materials. One is stripping of graphite, the second is chemical vapor deposition of natural gas, methane, and the like, and the third is reduction of graphite oxide. The above methods have problems such as long production cycle, serious environmental pollution, and limited production capacity. The functional inorganic material chemistry laboratory of Heilongjiang University, led by Professor Fu Honggang, is a key laboratory of the Ministry of Education. They have independently used the cellulose in the corn cob for chemical recombination to synthesize biomass graphene materials. The team achieved the macro-preparation of the biomass graphene material through the “group coordinating and disassembling carbon method”. At the same time, the team is also developing the preparation process of graphene using corn stover. In 2014, the world’s first macro-preparation production line for biomass graphene materials with an annual output of 20 tons was established, and in 2016, it will be expanded to an annual output of 100 tons. The first use of biomass graphene materials in a variety of fiber composite and successfully achieved a uniform dispersion, for the first time to achieve the conversion of biomass graphene materials and the commercialization of graphene fiber products. In China, the annual output of corn cobs in biomass is as high as 100 million tons, most of which are concentrated in the three northeastern provinces, Shandong Province, and Hebei Province.
