Currently, double-sided photovoltaic technology and products represent the direction of technology research and development and product application in the photovoltaic industry. However, current test standards are all written for conventional single-sided power generation devices, and evaluation of the performance of double-sided photovoltaic devices is not applicable. In order to change this situation, on April 6, the drafting meeting of the China Photovoltaic Association's standard “Determination of electrical parameters of double-sided photovoltaic modules” was held in Baoding.

It is understood that this standard is the second batch of projects in the China National Photovoltaic Industry Association's standard revision plan. This meeting is organized by the secretariat of the China Photovoltaic Industry Association's Standardization Technical Committee, led by Yingli, from Beijing Jianheng, China Building Materials, TUV. Representatives of 10 units including Nande, CPVT, Artes, and Tianhe attended the conference.

In recent years, China's photovoltaic industry has developed rapidly. Photovoltaic device production capacity accounts for more than 60% of the total global production capacity. With the continuous development of photovoltaic technology, improving conversion efficiency and reducing costs have become the two major themes in the photovoltaic industry's technological development. The advantages of low-cost, weather-resistant, and high conversion rates have become increasingly important for double-sided power generation components. In the industry, extensive attention has been paid to the emergence of double-sided photovoltaic devices. Most photovoltaic companies in China are doing research on two-sided power generation devices, and some companies have started mass production, but there are no relevant standards in China. It is of great significance for the development of the photovoltaic industry to formulate and regulate testing methods for two-sided power generation devices within the industry.

The meeting mainly introduced the preparation of the standard and draft standards, the participating experts also actively discussed and discussed the standard framework, the main content, etc., and proposed the test conditions, test procedures and verification methods for the double-sided power generation components. Many constructive opinions eventually reached consensus. The meeting further discussed the next work plan for the development of the standard to ensure the standardization work is carried out in an orderly manner. “At present, the standards for the photovoltaic industry test methods are all written for traditional single-sided power generation devices and are not suitable for evaluating the performance of double-sided photovoltaic devices and cannot accurately test the electrical parameters of the double-sided photovoltaic devices. The electrical parameters of photovoltaic devices must be in accordance with industry standards. A unified standard test can be effectively used to evaluate the merits of different manufacturers' products.” Song Dunyuan, chief technical officer of Yingli, said that the group standard “Test method for electrical parameters of two-sided photovoltaic modules” stipulates test methods for two-side power parameters. For the industry to comprehensively evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the electrical parameters of the two-way power generation device, it will also play a huge role in the selection of components of the photovoltaic system, so it is also urgent to develop this standard.

It is understood that the double-sided photovoltaic module is a device that accepts light on both sides, and can generate current and voltage. Compared with single-sided modules, double-sided photovoltaic modules using double-sided battery technology generate electricity through the backside, and their total power generation can be greatly improved and gain more gain. In the field of double-sided high-efficiency batteries, Yingli has always maintained the world's most advanced technology R&D and industrialization capabilities. Through the mass production of "Panda" technology, it has become the world's first manufacturer to successfully manufacture large-scale N-type single-crystal double-sided high-efficiency batteries. As early as in 2013, the SEMI standard “Test method for electrical parameters of double-sided photovoltaic devices” edited by Yingli has been established. At the end of 2016, Yingli n-type “Panda” double-sided power generation products won the industry’s first double-sided power generation product certification issued by Beijing Jian Heng Certification Center, and Yingli became the first company in the world to obtain double-sided power generation product certification.
